Minister Bob Gilbert

I was ordained in 1995 during the annual meeting of Toronto Conference. I was settled in Miami, MB that same year and served a three-point pastoral charge for seven years. I enjoyed serving the congregations of Miami, Altamont, and Swan Lake.

In 2002, I made a move to West Broadway Community Ministry in the heart of Winnipeg serving in outreach to inner city poor at this joint Anglican/United Church ministry. I served there for 10 years.

On July 1, 2012 I commenced my service to and with the congregation of Augustine United Church.

I have been blessed with opportunities to serve the wider church in a variety of capacities including: Chair of Agassiz Presbytery, and President of the Conference of Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario.

Although I don’t care for labels — if one were to ask me what kind of Christian I am I would say, tongue in cheek: an orthodox, progressive, existentialist one (that invites good faith conversation whenever people ask what I mean by that).

I believe strongly that faith is to involve all of life and inform our words and deeds in the wider world beyond church walls.

In my personal life, I enjoy reading, listening to music, spending time with friends and family, and watching the Toronto Maple Leafs lose. Yes, I am becoming a Jets fan!

Donald Ross (Minister Emeritus)

Donald was born in the heart of the Great Depression of the 1930’s, and was a child during the Second World War – both of which have had a profound effect on the values and outlook (and theology) of people of his generation.  The bulk of Donald’s growing up life and education, including theological training, was in Winnipeg.  After ordination in 1960, Donald was settled in what is now Thunder Bay, then Pinawa, Hamilton, Winnipeg (Crestview), and did interim work in Portage la Prairie and Augustine, from which he retired in 1996.  Donald has four children, and between them, his partner Len and Donald have thirteen grandchildren.

Over the years Donald has done a bunch of presbytery and conference jobs, mostly in the areas of liturgy, human sexuality, and ministry and personnel concerns.  But his main focus has always been congregational ministry, which has given him great satisfaction and sense of validity.

Stuart McVey (Organist)

Our organist/choir director has been an integral part of church life here at Augustine since 1994. He works closely with our minister, and the Worship Team to prepare the music for Sunday services. The choir is a testament to his myriad skills and deep commitment to Augustine. His love for the organ has resulted in an amazing effort to restore it to its original glory.

Sandi Koshelanyk (Office Administrator)

Sandi started with Augustine in April, 2014. Her office hours are Monday – Friday from 10am to 1pm

Her role within the church is varied which includes such tasks as assisting with financials, preparing tax receipts and quarterly reports, distributing meeting minutes via e-mail, send out congregational e-mails, looking after the members and adherents contact information, and putting together the Annual Report.

Please contact Sandi if you have questions about renting space within the church. This would include casual renters, weddings, and funerals as well as reserving the rooms for council meetings, etc.
