The Augustine Choir

Augustine United Church is a place where choral singing is flourishing. The choir add creative artistry and beauty to a worship service.

Under the direction of Stuart McVey, the singers undertake a wide range of music from classical, folk, contemporary and popular works. Each Sunday, the choir present two anthems, and support and lead good congregational hymn singing. Christmas Eve and Good Friday have exceptional musical worship with many anthems and hymns. Special services have included compositions such as a Requiem by Fauré or Duruflé, and Vivaldi’s Gloria.

Membership in the Augustine Choir can be a way of enjoying music and a way of serving God, the church and community. The singers bring a wide range of life experience to the choir. Some choristers have been members for many years, providing stability, while every year we welcome new voices to the fold. Moreover, the choir is also a group that gathers socially. While love of music and singing brings the choir together, the development of supportive, caring, relationships holds the choir together.

The choir meets for rehearsal on Thursday evenings, between Labour Day and Victoria Day. New members are always welcome. For those who are considering a commitment at Augustine, and are interested in becoming a member of the choir, please speak with Stuart after a service.
