Wider Community

Augustine has a strong commitment to community service, and was recognized for this work by the provincial government on November 26, 2007.

From Monday to Thursday, 1:30-3:30 pm, Oak Table Community Ministry offers hospitality, coffee and light snacks in our Red Cross Room. We also offer a home to other non-profit community organizations including Families Connecting healthy baby program, Alcoholics Anonymous, Overeaters Anonymous, Dignity, The Rebekahs, and Toastmasters. MacDonald Youth Services and Nafro Dance are permanent tenants in our building.

We support Osborne Village through various joint initiatives with the city, local businesses and organizations, and other faith communities. To date we have helped to build and are represented on the board of the Fort Rouge Ecumenical Apartments, which offers low cost housing geared to seniors. We have sponsored refugee families, participated in community clean ups and street celebrations, and sponsored forums on issues of safety and topics of interest to the wider public. We work with a number of partners including the local ministerial association, other faith communities including Jewish, Muslim and Traditional Aboriginal, human rights organizations, and social justice organizations.
