G8/G20 Summit interfaith petition

Dear congregation,

As many of you know, the 2010 G8/G20 Summit is being hosted by Canada, in the Toronto area at the end of June.  This is a great opportunity for us to demonstrate Canadian values to the G8 leaders.  The United Church of Canada, along with other denominations in the Canadian Council of Churches and interfaith partners invite you to get involved.  The 2010 Interfaith Partnership drafted a statement and an on-line petition entitled “A Time for Inspired Leadership and Action” in preparation for the G8 Summit.  The links for the statement and the petition are found below;

These documents call for the G8 leaders to put aside short-term agendas and work together to address poverty, care for the earth and invest in peace.

Warm Regards,
The Social Justice Team
